About Chengdu Natural History Museum
The long-necked Hechuan Mamenchisaurus dominates the Sichuan–Chongqing dinosaur gallery, surrounded by other dinosaurs from the basin. Mineral specimens, a preserved Dazhu Chongqingichthys fish and the Longchang iron meteorite add very different kinds of natural evidence. Begin with rocks and minerals, then follow the fossils into the exhibitions about life and biodiversity.
What to look for
- The Hechuan Mamenchisaurus skeleton is the centrepiece of the Sichuan–Chongqing dinosaur gallery.
- The Dazhu Chongqingichthys fish fossil and Longchang iron meteorite offer smaller-scale objects to examine.
