About Tianfu Art Park

At Yinggui Lake, large walking-figure sculptures stand before the Tianfu Art Museum, whose white form draws on the hibiscus flower. The water and open paths let visitors compare the cultural buildings from outside before choosing an exhibition. Museum entry and programmes are separate from simply walking in the park.

Besides Yinggui Lake (迎桂湖), the main lake, the park contains Hehua Lake (荷华湖) and Fangfei Lake (芳菲湖), and covers an area of 4.18 hectares (62.7 亩). Alongside the Tianfu Art Museum, it holds the Chengdu Museum of Contemporary Art (成都市当代艺术馆), operated by the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts, the Tianfu Humanities and Art Library (天府人文艺术图书馆) and a Sichuan opera art museum (川剧艺术馆).

The park opened in 2021, with its two new museum buildings officially launched on 6 November of that year by the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts. The Chengdu Biennale, a contemporary-art biennial that began in 2001, was held in the two new museum buildings that year.

What to look for

• The Tianfu Art Museum’s white, flower-inspired form rises beside Yinggui Lake.
• Large walking-figure sculptures create a foreground between the museum and water.

Getting to Tianfu Art Park

Use the Tianfu Art Park entrance from Jinniu Avenue’s Jinniuba Road section in Jinniu district, then follow the paths towards Yinggui Lake and the Tianfu Art Museum.
