Buddhist carvings
At Wofoyuan (卧佛院), a reclining Buddha from the high Tang period extends for 23 metres along the cliff. The site also preserves Buddhist scriptures carved into rock. Piludong (毗卢洞) contains the Purple Bamboo Guanyin (紫竹观音), a Song-period figure shown sitting at an angle with one leg raised and leaning against bamboo. At Huayandong (华严洞), three central sacred figures rise 5.2 metres, with ten bodhisattvas on the sides and narrative reliefs along the walls.
Two sculpture routes
Sichuan’s culture and tourism department groups Yuanjuedong (圆觉洞), Qianfozhai (千佛寨), Mumensi (木门寺) and Wofoyuan on a northern route. Its southern route links Piludong, Huayandong, Kongquedong (孔雀洞) and Mingshansi (茗山寺).
