About Beihai Park

Jade Islet rises from the water with the White Dagoba above Yong’an Temple, while the northern shore holds a different group of pavilions, courtyards, and garden spaces. The lake separates these groups visually as well as physically, so choose a shore-based route before trying to see the entire park.

For an island-focused visit, start with Yong’an Bridge and continue through the temple setting toward the White Dagoba. A north-bank visit puts the Five-Dragon Pavilions and the glazed Nine-Dragon Wall together. The wall’s dragons appear on both faces, so viewing only one side misses part of its design. These two areas can be combined, but the park’s internal connections and any boat service need to be checked on the day.

What to look for

  • Yong’an Bridge and Jade Islet: frame the bridge with the White Dagoba behind it, then follow the island’s changing shoreline views.
  • Yong’an Temple: look at the sequence of religious buildings climbing the island rather than treating the dagoba as an isolated monument.
  • Nine-Dragon Wall: compare the dragons, clouds, waves, and colored glazed bricks on its two decorated faces.
  • Five-Dragon Pavilions: examine the linked waterside pavilions on the lake’s north bank.

Location & getting there

Getting to Beihai Park

The city’s official park guide identifies Beihaibei station on Metro Line 6 for arrival by subway. For a visit centered on Jade Islet and Yong’an Bridge, the same guide starts its island route at the South Gate on the Wenjin Street side.

  • Choose the northern shore or South Gate approach according to your first sight; a station beside one side of the lake is not an entrance to every part of the park.
  • The official whole-park itinerary includes a ferry leg. Confirm that service separately, or plan your route around the shore without assuming a boat connection.
General visit reminders

Allow room for the terrain and weather when choosing your route. Check the operator’s current trail, shuttle and cableway notices where applicable, and confirm the return connection before setting out. A broad landscape pin does not identify every trailhead or access point.

Combine your visit

Suggested combination: Beihai Park → Jingshan Park.

  1. Beihai Park北海公园

Choose an island or northern-shore circuit around the imperial lake.

  2. Jingshan Park景山公园

Continue east to the neighboring hill for views over the palace rooftops.

This is an editorial sequence of identified attractions. Check each venue’s entry arrangements and actual street connections; no walking time or shared admission is implied.
