About Lanzhou Waterwheel Expo Park
The riverside wheel line is the main visual feature, while other waterwheel forms broaden the comparison between mechanisms. The scale is easiest to appreciate by following the relationship between river, wheel, bucket and channel. This is the eastern Waterwheel Expo Park on Nanbinhe East Road, which should be distinguished from the older Waterwheel Garden farther west.
What to look for
- The line of large wooden Lanzhou waterwheels beside the Yellow River.
- The waterwheel displays and channels showing how water was lifted for irrigation.
The surrounding area
Riverbank walks, beef noodles and tea culture make a useful beginning or ending to a provincial route.
