Working terraces

At Kuquan (哭泉), the terraces are planted with maize. In spring, strips of plastic mulch catch the light, giving the newly sown fields their silvery appearance. Seeders place maize seed and fertiliser before covering the rows with film. Local farmer Zheng Delin (郑德林) explains that the covering retains moisture. The terraces developed from the 1980s through successive decades of cultivation and enlargement.

Heritage and local products

Yijun’s other sights include Fudi Lake (福地湖), Longshan Park (龙山公园) and remains of the Wei Great Wall (魏长城) from the Warring States period (战国). Folk paper-cutting and farmer painting are part of its craft culture. Apples, walnuts, maize and edible mushrooms are among the county’s agricultural products.
