About Qinglong Temple
The old monastery was destroyed centuries ago; the temple and garden seen today developed through a modern rebuilding supported in China and Japan. Cherry trees planted around the reconstructed buildings make the garden a distinct part of the visit, while the temple’s story explains why this relatively quiet site has international significance.
What to look for
- The reconstructed temple buildings commemorating the Huiguo–Kūkai Buddhist connection.
- The surrounding cherry-tree garden planted during the modern rebuilding.
