It was designated a Chinese Historic and Cultural Town in 2014. The Sanshierliang Tea Expo Park (三十二梁茶博园) in Yuntai Town (云台镇) hosted the opening of Pingchang’s fourth rural cultural tourism festival on 23 April 2016.
