A historic railway building

Hsinchu railway station (新竹車站) is in the district. Its European-style building opened in 1913 during Japanese rule; the station has two island platforms and a side platform. It forms the western end of the Neiwan railway route, while the district also has North Hsinchu, Shibo and Xinzhuang stations.

Museums, hills and campuses

The Image Museum (新竹市影像博物館) occupies the former Youle Hall (有樂館), and Xin Zhiping’s former residence (辛志平校長故居) recalls the school principal. Eighteen Peaks Mountain (十八尖山) and Gaofeng Botanical Garden (高峰植物園) add hillside and garden destinations. National Tsing Hua University (國立清華大學) and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (國立陽明交通大學) have campuses in the district, alongside part of Hsinchu Science Park (新竹科學園區).
