Villages and temple traditions
Qinbi’s eastern Fujian architecture uses local stone and processed seashells. The Matsu National Scenic Area Administration (馬祖國家風景區管理處) relates one explanation of the village name to a turtle-shaped offshore reef called Qinjian (芹囝), with the houses appearing against the hillside behind it. In Houao Village (后澳村), Yanggong Bashi Temple (楊公八使宮) has no dragon decoration: local tradition says its deity was harmed by an evil dragon.
Banli and Tangqi
Banli (坂里) has a beach and winter crops of cabbage, radish and Chinese cabbage. Tangqi Village (塘岐村) has a food street associated with fish noodles, golden dumplings and Matsu su pastries (馬祖酥).
