Rooms from the early oilfield
The cave-dwelling complex began construction in 1964 and covers six hundred square metres. It provided space for oil-production teams to work, study and live. The site now serves as an oil-industry memorial museum in its original location. Displays include aluminium lunchboxes, enamel mugs and old military coats among nearly three hundred objects.
Machinery, pipelines and sculpture
From the Baili Oilfield Viewing Platform (百里油区观景平台), rows of pumpjacks and silver pipelines extend across the Gobi. At Baishatan (白沙滩), a metal-welded sculpture garden contains forty works, including abstract animal-like and building-like forms. Petroleum Culture Park (石油文化公园) has a geological canyon area with exposed rock layers and a military-equipment area displaying tanks and artillery.
