A planted hill and a standing Buddha
Hongguang Mountain lies near Kaziwan (卡子湾). Greening transformed the formerly barren hill into an ecological and cultural park, with more than thirty tree varieties planted. A gilded copper statue of Shakyamuni Buddha (释迦牟尼) rises 38.8 metres; craftspeople formed the figure through forging. Its hands measure 5.7 metres high and its ears 2.6 metres. The broader scenic area includes Journey to the West sculptures (西游记神话雕像群), a grape corridor and Languang Lake (蓝光湖).
Spruce woods and mountain landforms
Haxionggou lies thirty-seven kilometres from central Midong. Snow peaks, forest, grassland, unusual rocks and waterfalls make up its scenery. Spruce follows the rise and fall of the ridges. Its tourism activities include horse riding, mountain walking and Kazakh cultural experiences.
