A temple with Song foundations
Founded in 1072 and renovated in 1122, the temple is organised into inner and outer courtyards around a principal hall. Associated structures include an offering hall, a horse hall, side halls, covered passages and a theatre stage. A ceremonial arch and the Arrow-Fall Pavilion (落箭亭) and Horse-Watering Pavilion (饮马亭) also form part of the complex.
Old buildings and later restoration
The temple received national cultural relic protection in 1996. Repairs and reconstruction of supporting structures began from 1986, including work on the offering hall, horse hall and stage. The district itself took its present name in January 1969, when Yinying District (荫营区) became Yangquan’s Jiaoqu.
