Xiqu 西区

Xiqu (西区) is Panzhihua’s (攀枝花) western district, where sites associated with the Third Front construction era sit alongside recreation on the Jinsha River (金沙江). The former workers’ neighbourhood at Gaojiaping (高家坪) is one focus for understanding that industrial past.

History

Huohong Nianhua (火红年华) takes its name from the television drama filmed there. Its visitor spaces reuse and adapt buildings from the Dukou Cement Factory (渡口水泥厂) residential area and the former Gaojiaping community offices. The project includes a street themed around Third Front life, educational spaces and a sightseeing area.

What to see

Chuxin Garden (初心园), in Hemenkou (河门口), interprets the district’s builders through a relief gallery and miniature scenes. For a riverside setting, Shuimo Jinsha–Zhuangshang Shenghuo (水墨金沙·庄尚生活) is in Zhuangshang Village (庄上村), Geliping Town (格里坪镇). Its activities include camping and water sports such as paddleboarding and kayaking.
