Springs, wetlands and mountain traces
The Bogda’er Sacred Springs area (博格达尔圣泉景区) reaches from the county town and Arishan Ovoo (阿日善敖包) in the south to the river’s northern bank. Its landscape includes secondary river-valley forest, wetlands, alluvial terraces and traces of glacial activity at around three thousand metres. The Alatau Mountains (阿拉套山) and Biezhentao Mountains (别珍套山) form part of this mountain setting.
A greenway through the forest
The River Valley Forest Scenic Area (河谷林景区) lies north of the county seat, with the Bortala running through it. Its east–west greenway extends about thirty-six kilometres past marshes, floodplain areas, sea buckthorn, poplars and riverside willows. The scenic area was completed in 2019. Its landscaped stops include waterside resting areas and an openwork treehouse for shade.
