A passage through the mountains
Tianmen lies in Shang Artush Town (上阿图什镇), 57 kilometres from the city. Along the approach, wind and rain have shaped rock formations with names such as Riyue Gate (日月门), Yixiantian (一线天) and Little Tianmen (小天门). The municipal government describes changeable summer weather and large differences between daytime and night-time temperatures. Improvements since 2020 have included wooden walkways and a new visitor service centre.
Orchards and village lanes
Azihan, in Songtak Town (松他克镇), is 2.5 kilometres from the city centre. Its fig tourism area includes orchards, a folk-culture street and four themed lanes. A shaved-ice shop has passed through three generations. Environmental and architectural improvements begun in 2020 adopted an individual design for each household.
