Sanxingdui and its striking faces
Two sacrificial pits were discovered at Sanxingdui in 1986; a further six emerged in a new round of excavation in 2020. At the Sanxingdui Museum (三星堆博物馆), a bronze mask has cylindrical eyes projecting about 16 centimetres. Other bronze objects take diamond or triangular eye shapes, making the eye motif a particularly distinctive feature of these artefacts.
Gardens and an old family compound
Fanghu Park (房湖公园) takes its name from a lake excavated by the Tang official Fang Guan (房琯), and contains the remains of ancient Luocheng (雒城). The Duan Family Courtyard (段家大院子), beside the Yazi River (鸭子河) in Gaoping Town (高坪镇), preserves the form of a western Sichuan family courtyard residence.
