Huang Jiguang Memorial Museum
Huang Jiguang Memorial Museum (黄继光纪念馆) rises through three successive platforms. On the highest, 15 metres above the ground, a sculpture depicts Huang throwing himself towards an enemy machine-gun position. Historical records, photographs and collections inside trace his life from a poor farming family to service in the Chinese People’s Volunteers.
Handmade hollow noodles
Zhongjiang dried noodles (中江挂面) are white, slender and hollow, with a smooth, supple texture. Making them involves kneading, forming and stretching strands, suspending them on bamboo, dusting, drying and cutting. The dough rests repeatedly during production, and the noodles dry naturally. The noodle-making technique entered Sichuan’s (四川) first provincial intangible-cultural-heritage list in March 2007.
