Setting and landscape
Pines and cypresses grow on Laoye Mountain’s slopes, with elms and locust trees on the summit and peach and apricot trees in the gullies. Sanjunshan Temple (三峻山神庙) occupies the eastern Lin Peak (麟山), while Jinchan Temple (金禅寺) stands on the western Ling Peak (灵山).
What to see
At Jinchan Temple, a nine-storey hollow brick pagoda has closely spaced eaves. A square brick at its top records rebuilding in 966, and its walls retain more than a hundred bullet marks from the campaign. On southern Xuling Peak (徐陵山), Xianshi Temple (先师庙) was reconstructed on its old foundations in 2006; its Dacheng Hall (大成殿) honours Confucius (孔子) and his principal disciples.
