What to see
At Faxing Temple, the stone reliquary pagoda has two levels and a four-sided plan, standing on the temple’s central axis. A separate lamp pagoda dates to 773. These Tang-dynasty stone monuments share the site with twelve Song-dynasty bodhisattva figures. The temple is in Cuizhuang (崔庄), in Cilin Town (慈林镇), in the southeastern part of the county.
History
Chongqing Temple’s Thousand Buddha Hall (千佛殿) dates to 1016 and retains its original main timber framework; its glazed roof tiles were supplemented during repairs in 1851. Dashidian Hall (大士殿) holds eighteen painted arhat sculptures dated to 1079. The Hall of the Ten Emperors (十帝殿) contains Ming-dynasty underworld figures and suspended sculptural scenes made in 1548.
