Chongfu’s Jin artistry
Chongfu Temple’s Amitabha Hall (弥陀殿) dates to the Jin dynasty. Its plaque, sculptures, murals, carved doors and windows, and glazed roof-ridge ornaments are collectively described by Shuozhou’s city government as five distinctive Jin features. The altar holds Amitabha (弥陀佛), Guanyin (观世音) and Dashizhi (大势至), the three figures known as the Three Saints of the West (西方三圣). Murals cover the hall’s walls.
Around the temple and beyond
Chongfu Square (崇福广场), Yuchi Gong Temple (尉迟恭庙) and Mayi Museum (马邑博物馆) stand around Chongfu Temple. Elsewhere in the district, Shentou Springs (神头泉) form a source of the Sanggan River. Zijin Mountain’s secondary-forest reserve (紫金山原始次生林保护区) provides another natural landscape.
