Yingze District 迎泽区

Yingze District (迎泽区) occupies the heart of Taiyuan (太原) beside the Fen River (汾河). It contains the core of the city built under the Song and the prefectural city developed under the Ming.

Temples of the old city

Twin Pagoda Temple (双塔寺), also called Yongzuo Temple (永祚寺), pairs one temple with two towers. Chunyang Palace (纯阳宫) is a complex of Taoist buildings with a Nine Palaces and Eight Trigrams courtyard (九宫八卦院). Other religious landmarks in the district include Chongshan Temple (崇善寺) and the Confucian Temple (文庙).

Parks and commercial streets

Liuxiang (柳巷) is a longstanding commercial street. Yingze Park (迎泽公园) and Wenying Park (文瀛公园) add green spaces within the district, while Beilin Park (碑林公园) combines classical garden design with the calligraphy of noted artists. Fen River Park (汾河公园) is another large urban landscape park in the district.
