Lao'e Mountain and tea
Lao'e Mountain (老峨山), in Zhangchang Town (张场镇), reaches 1,142 metres. Tea gardens follow its slopes, while Chenghuai Lake (澄怀湖), bamboo, woodland and temples form part of the mountain landscape. At Eshan Village (峨山村) below the mountain, tea-related activities include picking leaves and making tea. Surviving Tea Horse Road (茶马古道) sections link the area with its earlier trading role.
Leaf-wrapped dongba
Danling dongba (丹棱冻粑) combines non-glutinous rice, glutinous rice and soybeans. The ingredients are soaked and ground, then fermented and mixed before being wrapped in corn leaves and steamed. Peanut, sesame, brown-sugar and rose versions offer different flavours.
