Setting and landscape
Hills and river valleys characterise the district, with elevations generally between 300 and 350 metres. Yaoling (瑶岭), in Jianshan Village (尖山村), Rongbian Town (荣边镇), reaches 497.3 metres. The Fuxi River (釜溪河) and Xu River (旭水河) belong to the Tuo River (沱江) drainage, while the Liugen River (溜根河) belongs to the Min River (岷江) system.
History
The area formerly belonged to Fushun County (富顺县). When Zigong was established as a city in 1939, Tongdang (桐垱) and Changqiu (长坵) towns became part of it. Their two urban districts merged in March 1950, and the resulting district received the name Ziliujing in 1953.
