What to see
Wong Cingjiang Historic House (翁清江古厝) was built between 1908 and 1912. It combines Fujian, Japanese and Western forms, with shield and plant ornaments on the entrance and Japanese-style rooms. Donghouliao Jhao Family Historic House (東後寮趙家古厝) dates to the Guangxu period of the Qing dynasty. Roof decorations described in the archived county guide include qilin and carp figures, while windows bear the character for longevity.
A village church
Donghouliao Church (東後寮教會), built in 1927, uses a basilica layout with a main worship space and altar. Its brick facade has one door and two arched windows, and the rear wall has buttresses.
Pigeon-bell racing
Pigeon-bell races are a local tradition: wooden bells are attached to pigeons, which must carry them back over a specified distance. The custom has been associated with the quieter farming months.
