Lake and wetland

The Nine-turn Bridge (九曲橋) and Fuguo Island (富國島) are features of the lake landscape. Beside its main entrance, the 3.8-hectare wetland began as a waterworks sedimentation pond and became an ecological education park. Its raised walkways leave room for animals to pass beneath them.

Plants and birds

Native trees, aquatic plants, amphibians and insects occupy the wetland. Moorhens move through the vegetation, while kingfishers perch on dead wood to hunt. The Kaohsiung Wild Bird Society (高雄市野鳥學會), which manages the site, describes around 300 plant species and nearly 100 bird species recorded there. The lake entrance plaza combines planting with its original gateway and fountain.
