Xianhua’s volcanic peaks
Xianhua’s peak forest rises in the northern outskirts of the county town. The mountain is composed of volcanic rhyolite, with intersecting valleys and distinctive summit rocks. Maiden Peak (少女峰) is the principal summit. Within the wider scenic area, temples and mountain scenery accompany the cultural sites. A memorial hall and pavilion honour the monk Donggao Xinyue (东皋心越), associated with cultural exchange between China and Japan.
The Zheng family’s shared household
Jiangnan’s First Family preserves the story of the Zheng clan, who lived and ate together through successive generations during the Song, Yuan and Ming periods. The ancestral hall and ceremonial archways connect that history with a tradition of family rules. The clan also established Dongming Academy (东明精舍) for its children’s education.
