Buddhist sculpture and reconstructed buildings
The temple’s stone Maitreya Buddha (弥勒佛) was carved against a cliff during the Southern Dynasties. Qianfoyuan (千佛院) contains many smaller niche figures. A2012 Lianyi News account describes the rebuilt Qiguang Jingyuan (栖光净院) at Luotouwan (罗头湾), with yellow walls, dark roof tiles and layered halls among green trees. Its reconstruction preserves the memory of a temple associated with the Eastern Jin monk Zhi Dun (支遁).
A county shaped by tea
Tea cultivation has a long history here, supported by red soils and a mountain setting between several ranges. A2005 China Cooperative Times feature describes production shifting from export-oriented gunpowder tea towards Longjing and other speciality teas. The name Dafo Longjing explicitly links that agricultural tradition with the county’s Buddhist heritage.
