A fortified grain store
Fengtu Granary (丰图义仓), completed in 1885, stands on a bluff on the western bank of the Yellow River (黄河). Its outer enclosure served as a defensive line; within it, storage chambers and walls form a combined structure. Fifty-eight grain chambers line the interior. Brick-and-tile eaves supported by wooden columns connect into a continuous covered circuit.
Lakes and river country
The Yellow, Luo (洛河) and Wei (渭河) rivers run through Dali. Chaoyi Wetland Park (朝邑国家湿地公园) occupies an old salt depression, with open water, reeds and egrets. Tongzhou Lake (同州湖) was developed from riverside ground beside the Luo in the county’s urban area. Dragon-boat races have been among the sporting events held there.
