Shaohua Mountain
Shaohua Mountain (少华山) belongs to a branch of the northern Qinling. Its scenic area combines forested slopes with a sightseeing cableway and a suspended glass walkway. Huazhou shadow puppetry (华州皮影) and visiting Heyang string puppetry (合阳提线木偶戏) have also been brought into the scenic area as performances.
Poetry and local crafts
The Tang poet Du Fu (杜甫) wrote the Three Officials (三吏) and Three Farewells (三别) while serving in Huazhou. Alongside shadow puppetry, the district’s craft traditions include black pottery, decorative dough flowers, papercutting and bamboo work.
