The prefectural government compound
Huozhou Prefectural Yamen (霍州署) is arranged along a central axis with eastern and western subsidiary groups. The main hall dates to 1304, during the Yuan dynasty, and uses reduced and repositioned columns. Its beams and pillars lack carved or painted decoration. A more elaborate Ming porch stands in front of the hall. The compound received national cultural relic protection in November 1996.
Ceramics and mountain valleys
Huozhou Kiln (霍州窑), at Chencun Village (陈村) in Bailong Town (白龙镇), was a civilian pottery kiln producing ceramics during the Jin and Yuan periods. It was selected among the 2023 national top ten archaeological discoveries. In the eastern mountains, Qiliyu (七里峪) and Taotangyu (陶唐峪) are named scenic areas of Mount Huo.
