Inside the writer’s home

Guo Moruo's Former Residence (郭沫若故居) began in the Jiaqing reign of the Qing dynasty (清嘉庆). Its timber-framed, single-storey buildings contain thirty-six rooms arranged through four successive sections, three light wells and a rear courtyard. Family bedrooms, a kitchen and a wine room survive in the layout. The rear courtyard contains the Suishan Schoolroom (绥山山馆) and garden, where Guo received his early education.

Peaks and terraced fields

Meinu Peak, also called San'e Mountain (三峨山), is the third peak of the Emei range (峨眉山脉), six kilometres south of Shawan's urban area, reaching 2,027 metres. At Si'e Village (四峨村) in Hulu Town (葫芦镇), terraced fields step across elevations from 400 to 1,100 metres.
