Stone traps and fish stoves
Hongluo Village (紅羅村), at the head of Hongluo Bay (紅羅灣), has ten stone weirs, many dating to the Qing period and others to Japanese rule. Fishing communities held offerings to pray for safety and abundant catches. Fish stoves processed squid and small fish: catches were washed in brine, steamed in bamboo trays, then spread out to dry.
A coastal lime works
Guoye’s kiln was built in 1960, initially with local basalt and mortar. Later additions used hollow bricks and reinforced concrete. The complex has eastern and western groups of buildings; the eastern group contains two round kilns, lime-sieving rooms and storage spaces. Its lime served construction, wooden boat repair and other uses before production declined around 1970.
