Terraces and fossils
The Xinshe Leisure Agriculture Guide Development Association describes thirteen river terraces at elevations of 350–1,000 metres. Its landscape includes terrace scarps, river bends, sandbars and floodplains. Shallow-marine fossils have been recorded at the Xiajinxing terrace scarp (下金星面河階崖) and Gonglaoping terrace scarp (公老坪河階崖), with further examples along Choutengkeng Stream (抽藤坑溪). The Guizhulin Formation (桂竹林層) between Maanliao (馬鞍寮) and Longan Bridge (龍安橋) also contains marine fossils.
Spring flowers
Cherry, peach, plum and pear blossoms appear successively in spring. The association also lists lavender and loquats among the season’s features. Shuangcui Lake (雙翠湖) is surrounded by hills, with egrets crossing its surface.
