Opera and a pastoral dance
Xiangba Tibetan opera (湘巴藏戏) belongs to the blue-mask tradition and is known for a powerful, high-pitched singing style. Tubuja Xieqin (土布加谐钦), associated with Tubuja Township (土布加乡), has twenty-five sections. Its distinctive vocals and mimetic movements portray sheep grazing on grassland, level ground, field ridges and hillsides.
Copperwork from Zidongxue
Zidongxue Village (孜东雪村), in Aima Township (艾玛乡), makes copper objects by hand. The repertoire includes Buddhist figures, wine vessels, fruit plates and incense burners. Incised decoration and flowing lines are characteristic of the work, which extends from religious articles to household objects and local craft products.
