Cuomuqin’s water and meadow
Cuomuqin sits among mountains at around 5,000 metres. Rocky ridges and snowy peaks surround water that changes from green to deep blue, with pebbles visible near the shore. Alpine meadow spreads across the slopes, dotted with wildflowers. A lakeside stone bearing the name in Chinese and Tibetan is wrapped with white khata scarves (哈达).
Densatil’s history and restoration
Densatil was founded in 1158 by Phagmodrupa Dorje Gyalpo (帕竹·多吉杰布) and became the principal monastery of the Phagdru Kagyu school (帕竹噶举派). Its historic buildings and objects suffered severe destruction during the Cultural Revolution. Local restoration began in the 1980s, followed by a larger state-funded programme from 2006. The restored worship spaces include a statue of Phagmodrupa in the meditation room behind the former main hall.
