What to see

Qiao’ergou (桥儿沟) is an old quarter of stone-paved lanes beside a stream in the county town. Longgang Mountain (龙岗山) stands on one side and Kuixing Mountain (魁星山) on the other. The lanes climb and turn with the gully, linked by bridges such as Changchun Bridge (长春桥) and Guanlan Bridge (观澜桥); houses follow the uneven slopes.

History

Buildings in Qiao’ergou include the Qing outer-city north gate, Changchun Temple (长春寺), Baihe Gospel Church (白河县福音堂) and the Geng family’s Huizhou-style residence (耿氏江南徽派古民居). Rock-cut springs feed the stream. The Baihe People’s Congress describes both older bridges incorporated into lanes or buildings and later additions of stone slabs and brick.
