A temple of successive courtyards
Founded in 1375, the south-facing temple includes timber and stone ceremonial gateways, a theatre, worship halls and a rear sleeping hall. A carp leaping through the dragon gate (鲤鱼跳龙门) appears in brick relief on its screen wall. The theatre dates from 1757, with glazed roof tiles and carved wooden decoration.
Dough flowers and puppets
Sanyuan dough flowers (三原面花) use local wheat flour, bright colours and tools such as scissors, needles and combs to form animals, flowers and opera characters. Wangdiansun puppetry (王店孙木偶戏) uses Qinqiang singing (秦腔); performers control the figures with rods, while movable facial features add expression.
