Traces of old ice
Luoji Mountain preserves remains of Quaternary glaciation. Grooves cut by ice, glacial lakes, horn-shaped peaks and sharp ridges make up its geological landscape, while flowering rhododendrons add a botanical feature. Black Dragon Lake (黑龙潭) is one of the mountain's named waterscapes. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism includes Luoji Mountain on a touring route through the prefecture, linking it with villages and towns elsewhere in Liangshan.
Water emerging from the cliffs
The Luoji Ninety-Nine-Li Hot Spring Waterfall (螺髻九十九里温泉瀑布) is in Qiaowo Town (荞窝镇). Spring water emerges directly from openings in the cliff: narrow streams from small holes and broad sheets from larger ones gather before falling over the rock as a waterfall.
