What to see
Wenchang’s Hometown (文昌故里) draws on stories of Zhang Yazi (张亚子) and his origins in Lulingou (芦林沟), Zhongsuo (中所). On Jinma Mountain (金马山), Zifu Feixia Cave (紫府飞霞洞) is traditionally associated with his study and religious cultivation. The county government describes a deep, twisting interior with the sound of running water at its furthest reaches. Its cultural routes also include Nanqing Rock Art (南箐岩画), Zhongsuo Old Street (中所老街) and remains of the Xiaoxiangling Ancient Road (小相岭古道).
Musical traditions
Dongjing music (洞经音乐) accompanies Wenchang worship. Its daqiang style uses longer phrases for major ceremonies, while xiaoqiang employs repeating musical phrases adapted to the words. A lead singer begins, followed by the group.
