What to see

Yaoba Ancient Town (尧坝古镇) and Fobao Ancient Town (福宝古镇) are two historic settlements in the county. Fobao’s wider tourism area also includes forest scenery, while Fawang Temple (法王寺) is another named heritage stop. The county’s river routes include stretches of both the Yangtze and the Chishui.

Food and local products

Hejiang douhua (合江豆花) is soft bean curd served with rice and a spicy, numbing dipping sauce. The local version is firm enough to lift with chopsticks. Sauces can contain chilli in oil, litsea oil and chopped spring onion. Douhua also appears beneath grilled fish, absorbing the seasoned juices. Late-ripening lychees and Zhenlong pomelos (真龙柚) are local fruit specialities.
