Inside the liquor-making landscape
At the Luzhou Laojiao Tourism Area (泸州老窖旅游区), a viewing corridor reveals traditional production by hand. Visitors can see ingredients being mixed, distilled and spread out to cool. A seventy-nine-metre relief depicts the liquor's history, while a museum displays brewing-related objects. Longquan Well (龙泉井), made centuries ago, remains a source of water for production.
Longan trees and paper umbrellas
Zhangba Longan Forest (张坝桂圆林) grows along the Yangtze, with old longan trees accompanied by lychee and nanmu trees. Fenshuiling Town (分水岭镇) is associated with Fenshui oil-paper umbrellas (分水油纸伞). Their makers use local mature bamboo for the frame, apply layers of paper with a wet-pasting technique and dry the umbrellas; the process involves more than eighty steps.
