A concrete Buddha above the city
The roughly 22-metre figure is made of reinforced concrete and sits on a lotus pedestal. The approach passes 32 stone images of Guanyin (觀音), while a fountain with a nine-dragon relief lies below the Buddha. Behind it, the Great Buddha Hall (大佛殿) has three levels dedicated respectively to Confucius (孔子), the Five Benefactors (五恩主公) and the Three Treasure Buddhas (三寶佛).
The hills’ migrating raptors
The Bagua Mountain Ecological Visitor Centre (八卦山脈生態遊客中心) has a themed exhibition on grey-faced buzzards. Around the March equinox, these raptors stop in the Bagua Mountains (八卦山脈) while returning north to breeding grounds. Displays cover the mountains’ geology and plants, with a raptor introduction area and AR and VR buzzard experiences.
