Oyster cultivation with working cattle
The cattle, locally called “sea cattle”, are used in oyster farming and harvesting on the tidal flats. The practice has continued since the period of Japanese rule. Alongside oyster cultivation, it preserves the knowledge needed to train these animals, and cattle-cart activities introduce the intertidal environment.
A walkway through mangroves
The Fangyuan Wetland Mangrove Walkway (芳苑濕地紅樹林海空步道), dating from 2021, extends for about one kilometre along the coast. Mangroves and fiddler crabs can be observed nearby, while wind turbines line the coastal view.
Traditional oil-making and sesame
At the Oil Learning House (油籽學堂), the ground floor contains a shop and displays; upstairs are workshop and food-education spaces. Interpretation explains traditional oil production. Hands-on activities include making black sesame paste, and sesame is also paired with ice cream.
