Fields on the alluvial fan
Rice, fruit, vegetables and nursery trees form its agricultural economy. Guavas and Malabar chestnut nursery stock are noted local products. Sugar manufacture formerly shaped the township before the sugar company’s relocation in 1970. Xiluo Bridge reaches its northern end here, linking the two counties across the river.
Village buildings and faith
Santiaozhen Police Officers’ Station (三條圳警察官吏派出所), the former Chenggong hotel (成功旅社) reused as an agricultural bookshop, and Xizhou Theatre (溪州戲院) are named local heritage places. Beisheng Tiangong (北聖天宮) in Caigong village (菜公村) worships Xuantian Shangdi, while Nantian Temple (南天宮) in Chaoyang village (潮洋村) honours Guan Yu. The township also includes Xipan’s (西畔) stone-tower deity shrine (石塔公) and Fayuan Buddhist Temple (法圓禪寺).
