History
Qiu Yonggao (邱永鎬) and his family helped establish farming settlements here. In 1699, settlers first based themselves at what is now Xiangyang Village (香楊村). After storms destroyed their shelters, they moved north along the Shashe River (殺蛇溪) to present-day Changxing Village (長興村). Water drawn from the Ailiao River (隘寮溪) supported the development of irrigated fields.
What to see
The Agricultural Biotechnology Park (農業生物科技園區) contains the Asia-Pacific Aquarium Centre (亞太水族中心), completed in February 2013. On the third floor of Feiyu Building (飛宇樓), its display and trading centre presents freshwater and marine ornamental fish and shrimp. The exhibition space was established for aquarium businesses within the park to show their stock.
