Family architecture
Beside Shuangci Temple (雙慈宮), the Chen Ancestral Hall (陳氏宗祠) began as a family temple for Chen migrants from Zhangzhou (漳州). Swallowtail eaves frame a roof ridge decorated with glazed pottery dragons, phoenixes, tigers, flowers and fruit. The nearby Lan Family Old House (藍家古厝) combines a southern Fujian courtyard layout with a Baroque-influenced imperial-crown roof and washed aggregate finishes.
Along the Ailiao River
The Ailiao River Embankment Cycleway (隘寮河堤車道) follows the river through four sections: Ailiao (隘寮), Yanpu (鹽埔), Ligang and Jiuru (九如). The full route is about 24 kilometres long. It has a flat surface, directional signs and rest pavilions, with broad views across the river landscape.
