Changing coastal ground
The Fenggang River (楓港溪) divides contrasting coastal geology. Sandstone lies to the north; clay, sand, gravel and other river deposits occur around the river mouth. Southward, the coast changes to coral-derived shell material and large gravel. Fangshan Village (枋山村) is a principal local growing area for Irwin mangoes (愛文芒果), and visitor orchards form part of the township’s agricultural landscape.
A museum for shrikes
The Shrike Ecology Exhibition Hall (伯勞鳥生態展示館), beside Fenggang Elementary School (楓港國小), reuses a former military barracks. Photographs, films and illustrated guides introduce shrikes from around the world. The hall combines interpretation with bird-conservation education and hands-on activities, giving a natural-history focus to the coastal journey.
