What to see

Nanzhou Sugar Factory (南州糖廠), formerly Donggang Sugar Factory (東港糖廠), shifted to tourism in 2003 after sugar production ended. Warehouses, railway tracks and cane-unloading machinery remain among the factory buildings. The grounds also contain a carp pond, flower-growing areas and a historic-building section. Sunflowers and cosmos are planted in the flower areas.

Food and local products

Black Pearl (黑珍珠) wax apples, rice and bananas are among Nanzhou's crops. At the sugar factory, earth-oven cooking involves digging a pit, collecting stones, building the oven, burning wood and covering it with soil. The activity preserves a cooking process within the former industrial grounds.
