History

A rebuilding inscription at the shrine dates its foundation to 1803, under the initiative of Zhong Linjiang (鍾麟江). It honours the Tang scholar Han Yu (韓愈). The shrine formerly served as an educational centre, inviting teachers to lecture. Copies of examination permits hang inside, reflecting its role as a place where students pray for success.

What to see

Han Yu occupies the central position, flanked by Han Xiang (韓湘) and Zhao De (趙德). Beside the entrance stands the Fengjin Gulingpu (封禁古令埔) stone inscription from the Jiaqing reign. Its decree prohibited immigrant cultivation on the named land while allowing Pingpu (平埔) Indigenous people to farm it.
